p.s. on billboards

an addendum to the billboard thingie, from a chatter named theDonk...

not only are billboards ugly, at times they are dangerous, too. The Philippines is a typhoon path and the billboard catches wind like a sailboat does. Those billboards are made of steelsheets and once torn from where it is fastened, can fly to places you cannot predict and poses hazards to humans and properties.

billboard bleck!

If you're from Manila, you've probably gotten used to the sight of huge billboards surrounding the streets and blocking the skyline. Well, here's something from Tony, a Tokyo resident and fellow Pinoy who recently took a vacation in billboard land:

billboards there are crazy—capital U-G-L-Y. too many Smart/Globe billboards. why do 2 companies who are already sure of their market share have to pursue this ad war? Basura na yan e. imagine if they restrain themselves, the city will be cleaner, more pleasing to MY eyes, and they'd both still have their subscribers..and they don't have to spend too much for something U-G-L-Y. just improve their respective services—compete in that arena, and the people will know. i'm sure there are many ways they can be different from each other..

name your fries

Is it just me, or did Jollibee really improve its french fries? A couple of months ago I bought some and was pleasantly surprised! Bakit may lasa? Heehee!! And they were crunchier. "This is going to make me come back and buy some more," I told myself as I munched on the rest of the potato sticks. Hmm, they're tastier...which means they put salt (or more of it)...which means hypertensive people should be more cautious...which means Jollibee could have a "fries w/ or w/o salt" option for their customers. Just an idea.

But really, Jollibee's fries have improved. I, for one, am satisfied with the change. Oh, and the latest wall decor--neat. Quite creative. Not your standard ad material. By the way, the company replies to emails about these things. Just go to http://www.jollibee.com.ph and there's something there for feedback.

Happy weekend!

McDo: you saved my life!

This is long overdue, but the people at McDonald's deserve some praise for this one. About three years ago, i came out of the Katipunan branch drive-thru--sandwich and drink on the passenger seat. Well, I don't remember if it was a hump or a pothole but the car was jolted enough to make my drink tumble on its side....aarrghh!! Lagot ako sa daddy ko. Major panic...then I quickly snatched the plastic cup and hurriedly examined the seat for the damage. Well, what do you know? Not a drop was there! No spills, and the lid on my drink was still intact. I knew I should have been more careful in the first place, but then McDonald's also deserves commendation for the apparent superb quality control in this case.

Sana ganyan din sa Jollibee para maipagmamalaki natin ang sariling atin.

By the way, I thought of something about Jollibee. It'll be in another post.

McDonald's, thank you. Dahil sa inyo, hindi nabasa ang upholstery ng kotse ng daddy ko. That is a big deal to me!
