grass instead of the mall pavement

There's something thrilling about walking on the middle of a street, which is exactly what anyone can do in parts of the UP Diliman campus on any given Sunday without fear of getting run over by jeepneys or cars. It's still a car-less oval every Sunday around the academic oval. And yesterday I spotted some dudes near Palma Hall working their skateboards and making like x-games competitors on a wooden beam -- sans knee pads and helmets. Watching them, then, was accompanied by a bit of anxiety.

Still, walking around the campus and plopping on the grass to watch kite-flyers and soccer players in action at the sunken garden was a welcome respite from mall-roaming and..net-surfing, hehe. Too bad I don't have a photo of the campus to accompany this post. Maybe next time I'll take some pictures...

Have a good week, everyone.

  • Heehee!! Thanks, though I wasn't really "away". Just...had a really hard time thinking of what could be worthy of being put here. These days, I think most Philippine residents need to exert more effort in order to see the glass as half-full rather than half-empty. =)

  • I was once invited by friend to UP campus one Sunday afternoon and I was surprised to find a cozy restaurant inside the campus which could compete to any named dining place in a posh mall.

Mind you, they serve wines, and the candlelights are just romantic!

  • Kapag fishballs, UP campus agad ang unang nasa isip namin. Pag tapsilog, UP pa din ang punta. Pag park, UP pa din ang direksyon.

Masarap doon eh. :) Fresh air, saka mura ang pagkain. he he

  • Kung nasa shopping center ka naman at nagutom ka, at gusto mong manood ng tv habang kumakain, merong isang stall doon na may flat tv! I can't recall which stall it is, pero basta may flat tv sila. Yun lang, baka mas mataas ng konti ang price ng food nila kasi maganda yung tv nila. =)

Warrior, you must be referring to Chateau Verde. You're right -- it's very nice, and stumbling into it is such a delightful surprise. I like their baked oysters. =)

  • Chateau Verde? I dont know, really. They dont flash neonlight for a classy place.

Baked oyster??! Oh,, its those shell-arranged appetizer, that make your stomach "krok-krok" after a while?

AsianSmiles is correct...park? oh yes..they have those alert campus police roving every now and then and they make you feel protected within the campus. They come, too, when you least expect them to be around.

But not to take away the luster, i love the place and the oyster.
